AUDIO TEAM
Saddleback Production’s Audio team provides care for the greatest amount of technical needs for the ministries at Saddleback Church. Whether it’s a weekend service, mid-week bible study, small gathering, workshop, or large-scale conference, chances are they at least need audio support for their ministry event.
We will place volunteers who have no prior experiences into events with staff trainers that can help them operate consoles and learn, both by observation and by doing. Additionally, as key concepts are grasped and volunteers gain traction through the course of hands on training, the training wheels will come off and we will begin providing opportunities for you to serve in events that we’re confident you can handle on your own. But don’t fret, we’re always just a phone call away if you ever get in a jam and need some assistance when you’re operating solo in an event.
To be straight forward and to the point with you from the beginning, if your aim is to start out operating the main audio console on the weekends for the Worship Center or even a large scale ministry event, such as a weekend venue that has full band needs and multiple cues, chances are you will likely be disappointed. Even if you have years of audio experience, the dynamics of Saddleback Production’s Audio team are unique to Saddleback and there is still a level of integration, margin, consistency and trust building that must first take place before stepping into some of are large-scale events.
With that said, we love hanging with our volunteers and often times we have volunteers who signup to sit in with some of our staff engineers at some of our large scale services and ministry events to observe and experience the dynamics of rehearsals, sound checks and multiple cues. This is always a welcomed opportunity we extend to all of our volunteers so that they can see things first hand and can observe how some of the “pro’s” do it. (we’re not trying to prop ourselves up we promise).
Yet with all that, what casual attendees don’t realize sometimes is that there is a lot happening at Saddleback every day of the week. Our Lake Forest campus Production team supports an average of about 200 events per week and that is not counting our normal weekend services and venues. So if you are interested in serving in audio there is ample opportunity to get involved, and serve in ministry through supporting the audio needs of ministry events that happen at Saddleback on a regular basis.

LIGHTING TEAM
Saddleback Production’s Lighting team contributes to some of the most directly noticeable features of ministry events at Saddleback. Lighting is both a necessity and an enhancement to the overall atmosphere and experience visitors will encounter when attending events at Saddleback.
We will place volunteers side-by-side with some of our great staff leaders so that they can observe the nature of operating lighting in a live production environment first hand. As key concepts are grasped and volunteers gain traction through the course of training and learning the various tools of the trade and system dynamics, volunteers will be able to sequence through pre-programmed show flows for various ministry events.
To be straight forward and to the point with you from the beginning, if your aim is to start out operating the main lighting console on the weekends for the Worship Center or even a large-scale ministry event, such as a weekend venue that has full lighting needs and multiple cues, chances are you will likely be disappointed.
Even if you have years of lighting experience, the dynamics of Saddleback Production’s Lighting team are unique to Saddleback and there is still a level of integration, margin, consistency and trust building that must first take place before stepping into some of our large-scale events.
With that said, we love hanging with our volunteers. At times the tasks can be labor intensive. As lighting involves operations with electricity, thousands of moving parts, fluid mixtures and network paths, the maintenance and caring for our lighting systems alone can keep our team regularly busy throughout the weeks. There is a place for you to be involved here and we want to help you find your nitch as well as help you grow in knowledge and competency in lighting operations so that you can continue to expand your reach and impact for Christ in various ways with Saddleback Production.

VIDEO TEAM
Saddleback Production’s Video team is second to none when you consider the level of saturation and impact the Video team provides at Saddleback. Whether it’s a weekend service, mid-week bible study, small gathering, workshop, or large-scale conference, chances are there will be some level of visual aid or capturing to support the productions for ministry events at Saddleback.
We place volunteers who have no prior experiences into events with other team members who have become seasoned pro’s in their craft over the years together so that new volunteers can learn to operate equipment and learn, both by observation and by doing.
To be straight forward and to the point with you from the beginning, if your aim is to start out operating the main video console on the weekends for the Worship Center or even a large scale ministry event, such as a concert that consists of a full multi-cam shoot and multiple cues, chances are you will likely be disappointed.
Even if you have years of video experience, the dynamics of Saddleback Production’s Video team are unique to Saddleback and there is still a level of integration, margin, consistency and trust building that must first take place before stepping into some of these higher skilled roles and large-scale ministry events.
With that said, we love hanging with our volunteers and often times we have volunteers who signup to sit in with some of our staff or seasoned pro volunteers at some of our large scale services and ministry events to observe and experience the dynamics of video production. This is always a welcomed opportunity we extend to all our volunteers so that they can see things first hand and observe how some of the “pro’s” do it. (we’re not trying to prop ourselves up we promise).

STAGE TEAM
Saddleback Production’s Stage Production team provides some of the most basic of necessary help and support for a production to be successful. With any of our large to mid size productions there are a great deal of moving parts and components that have to occur at specific moments and often in certain ways to accomplish the ultimate goal pursued in a production.
There is a great deal of planning, building set props, running cable lines, spiking cue marks, updating planning notes and corresponding within our “prep mode,” this is all done in an effort to provide (at times) extreme levels of adaptability and flexibility to accommodate last moment audibles and asks to achieve a successfully smooth running and distraction-less production for ministry events.
There are some great opportunities to serve on the Stage Production team without having tremendous technical foreknowledge there are also areas where specific trade skills and knowledge are necessary and desired. This is seen most often in our set builds and stage designs, where carpenters, welders, and “handymen” skills are of an extreme value.
You may have attended Saddleback long enough to notice that you attended a service in the main Worship Center last weekend, only to find a whole new experience, look and feel present the following weekend. There can be that first “ahhhh” moment as you take in all the new details and surroundings as you enter into the Worship Center for the first time after a set change. But behind this, is hours upon hours of hard work, sweat soaked shirts, ingenuity, and teamwork that accomplished such a demanding feat in less than five days, all while still having to cater to some mid-week events periodically throughout the week.
There are ministry events, conferences, planning meetings and lots of preparations that occur all throughout our weeks, that volunteers can participate with the Stage Production team, in addition to the weekends at Saddleback.
